I’m not sure how it all started. Really…
All I know is that one day I received an invite to be a part of it- and like any good publicist (that doubles as a major shopaholic in total denial) I accepted.
The next thing I know, I’m inviting all my friends and talking about it day in and day out.
I started reading about this wonderful invite-only private shopping site, how cool it is for brands, what a great concept this New York woman came up with and how it reaches millions of people.
And that must have been my light bulb moment. I immediately reached out to them in order to have one of my clients featured in one of the sale categories. The buyer LOVED it and created an opportunity for the client to have a MAJOR sale that did really well both for Gilt as well as for my client.
The day my client’s dream of being on Gilt came true was the day I started online shopping. At first I was frantically checking the site to see how the client’s sale is doing. Then I realized they were featuring BCBG – and I took a peek – the most amazingly cute pumps I have ever seen- for like … nothing. I had to have them. So I filled out a form, saved the credit card info and placed the order. Days later they arrived in my office in a pretty box, all branded with a cute little note from Alexandra saying thank you!!
Awwwww- I was smitten. I had officially become an online shopper. But I wasn’t really serious about it. I mean a pair of pumps is not a big deal… Nor are the really sweet yellow jeweled flats from Jeffrey Campbell… Or the L.A.M.B peep toe black shoes… or the adorable onesies I got for my little girl…
And so packages started coming into our office … a lot… (no need to be exact…) The more clients I would book on Gilt, the more I would shop. The more buyers I would contact for my clients, the more sales I would see…
The great news out of all this is that we’ve been able to capitalize on these relationships with Gilt and get some unbelievable exposure for our clients. Not only are our clients able to share their designs or products with millions of people but they also have a place to sell items specific to a certain demographic. Needless to say it’s a win-win situation for everyone.
While we are a typical PR agency, we realize that clients need to see ROI in order to continue a happy relationship with us. And we are truly committed to finding all ways of creating ROI- from linking appropriate clients to suitable private sale outlets like Gilt, to organizing “tasting” events at their restaurants for various organizations and so much more. We take our involvement in a brand seriously – in Gilt’s case- we shop as much as everyone else just to make sure that our client’s experience on there will be nothing short of amazing.
P.S. If you do not have a Gilt membership, please email me and I’ll hook you up!
