The month of March has begun and we all know what to expect every spring… a new Apple product launch of course. Last week, Apple sent companies personalized invitations teasing every technology enthusiast’s latest it-gadget: the hotly anticipated iPad 2.
Since releasing the first iPad last year, Apple has sold a whopping 14.8 million units. In the interim, an array of other computer brands have come out with their own version of the tablet, but that hasn’t stopped the tablet front runner from amping up the innovation. Apple commands 70 percent of the tablet market, and with the release of the second generation iPad, that number is likely to go up. In the upcoming year, analysts predict Apple will sell close to 30 million units of the new and improved iPad 2.
So what has made Apple such a leader in this market as well as others, including music retail with both iTunes and the iPod? For starters, the brand runs the most impressive public relations campaigns of any of its competitors. Whether it’s their signature product launch events, infectious commercials or stunning photography and advertisements, PR is one of Apple’s specialties. The brand has amassed a massive loyal following around the world all because of the personal touch it adds to its products—of course, giving us more than enough reason to go out and buy the next big thing.
The launch event will take place tomorrow in San Francisco, CA with the iPad 2 expected to be released in early April. Will you be getting one?
I know our public relations agency uses them!
