Connecting with your audience is a major part of any successful PR campaign. A PR agency is responsible for identifying the correct and most appropriate target demographic. This is true for any marketing, advertising or communication plan.
There is some sort of communications team behind the royal family and apparently behind the royal wedding. This wedding has captured the attention of those in the UK, the US and around the world. In order to bring accurate and official information to the interested public, the communication team has created a wedding website, like most couples these days. For a typical wedding, it’s a convenient way for invited guests to see where the couple is registered, wedding details and sometimes the story of the couples courtship. The royal wedding website promises to be updated with videos, images and information before the April nuptials. Wow, wedding planners are going to have to step it up a notch.
While I think the coverage is somewhat interesting, there are very many levels of interest. The spectrum of interest can go from utter fascination to extreme annoyance.
I think most can agree that it is very progressive of the monarchy to embrace social media in this way. Since the rest of the world uses it to share information, it will be the most effective way to reach the people to keep them updated about one of the most highly anticipated events of 2011.
