Oh, the life an of a LA publicist. Client management, media interactions, and can we talk about the hundreds (LITERALLY) of emails every day?
It’s no wonder that on CNBC’s list of America’s Most Stressful Jobs 2011, Public Relations Executive ranked #2. It is definitely true that at times, our success (or failures) are out of our hands and the anxiety of being constantly connected can become taxing. However, I do feel that it takes a special type of person to be a publicist, to give so much of yourself selflessly into your profession.
I will say, that not every publicist in Los Angeles is as lucky as I am. To work for a pr agency that you actually believe in, where your thoughts, ideas and contributions are actually heard and executed. Out of all of my friends, publicists or not, I am the only one who feels empowered and supported to the fullest by a fabulous boss and strong, intelligent co-workers and I am thankful every day.
My one request: LA publicist should rank #1. Naturally because we as publicists NEVER finish second to anyone or anything. DUH
