This LA publicist didn’t just hatch writing press releases in the Konnect PR office. Rather, I come from an incredibly loving and supportive set of parents who have helped me get where I am today. Hopefully you will read the below blog post about my mom and help out with something that is important to me because it is important to my mom.
It’s a long story but my mom has begun volunteering at a camp for children that have lost parents. And if you knew my mom, which none of you do, you would know this women never leaves the house without her pearls or lipstick. All in all, she is not a camper. However, when she got involved in Comfort Zone Camp my mom packed her bag for camp- bunk beds and all.
More importantly than imagining my mother in the wilderness, well the wilds of Malibu, she has become passionate about the camp. Children from all over are brought to this camp to help them deal with and learn to deal with the loss of a parent. Today I received an email from my mom asking to watch this YouTube video. So I watched it. Then the e-mail asked me to go to this Facebook page on June 1st and vote for Comfort Zone Camp. And I will. I will also post it on my Facebook page on June 1st so that hopefully some of my friends will vote for it too. The voting is for Toyota to donate cars to 100 non-profits who could use an extra vehicle for their operations.
Ahh, the power of Facebook. Undoubtedly, another PR agency thought of this idea but it really is a good cause. Giving charities in need a mode of transportantion they might otherwise not have.
So will you help Comfort Zone Camp (and my mom) on June 1st? I would really appreciate it!
Shelby (and my mom)
