As many of you know, I have not always been an LA Publicist! Born and bred in Houston, TX, I had the great pleasure of heading home for the holiday. Believe it or not, it is a lot different in Houston than Los Angeles. For the holidays, my family and I have our usual routine of driving around the suburbs to look at Christmas lights, and don’t worry, our dog Puck comes along too ; )
For Christmas dinner we have a lot of the usual holiday treats but the stuffing for our turkey has a touch of southern spiciness for an extra southern kick! We also have this amazing green jello salad every year, which I made for my favorite Los Angeles PR Agency’s Thanksgiving potluck. Our fearless leader, Sabina can vouch for how delicious it is. Another favorite of ours are these amazing little cheese balls that my aunt discovered in Louisiana. Don’t even get me started on the cookies. I am pretty sure my mother makes a new type of cookie for all the 12 days of Christmas…and not just a few! I mean like a full batch of cookies. I’m pretty sure we used to freeze them and eat them until Valentine’s Day. That’s how many cookies there are. Obviously before I head home I plan on hitting up at least two of my favorite Mexican restaurants. People in LA are delusional…Tex Mex really is the greatest Mexican food in the world. I mean it.
Let’s just say that upon returning to Lala Land, this publicist is going to have to hit the gym.. or maybe those spin classes across the street. New Year’s resolution maybe?
Anyways, Happy Holidays to all from the Lone Star State!
Until next time,
PS: Everyone root for the Texans on Sunday! I am hoping this our big year : ) Super Bowl here we come!
