I’ve interned at KonnectPR for almost a month. I can’t describe how nervous I was before I stepped into this PR agency. I already read about its fabulous work from its website. I was looking forward to meeting my colleagues, experiencing the cultural diversity, and most importantly, learning as many things as possible from my PR internship.
Some of my friends were doubtful about the value of an internship obtained through my university’s connections. They assumed I would be doing mindless work. This was far from the reality. I’m really enjoying my time working at this PINK public relations firm with so many smart and energetic ladies. My colleagues are very patient teachers and give me tips on how to manage difficult tasks in public relations. I love my PR internship and I’m glad that I my colleagues are willing to trust my ability to work, and guide me into the PR industry. In comparison to my other classmates’ internships, I have more tasks to complete. I am constantly busy doing media clippings, filing annual press books, and doing administrative works. I also create media lists and compile lists of our key influencers. I’m grateful I have this opportunity.
I think building an ideal career life that’s related to what you love is difficult. That is why every step matters. I love what I have learned from USC Annenberg, and I couldn’t be happier to apply what I learn with what I do. Interning at KonnectPR is a wonderful start to know more about the real public relations world in Los Angeles, making me believe that I’m on the right path to becoming a proud PR practitioner.
