I have never been one to be goo-goo-gaw-gaw over babies. Nor have I ever babysat a day in my life, and up until eight months ago if anyone even THOUGHT about asking me to hold their baby you would have thought they had just told me the world was ending by the look of horror plastered on my face. Then I would run and hide. Let’s just say, to me, babies use to equal messy and loud and that just didn’t mesh with my wardrobe or afternoon naps. Then, on August 8th 2013 my whole world changed and I became an aunt. I quickly realized that babies weren’t all that bad. Sure they wake you up in the middle of the night and going to a restaurant will never be the same again, but babies are cute and much to my surprise EXTREMELY fun to shop for. So here I am, a proud new aunt ready to deck out my new nephew’s wardrobe when all of a sudden I am bombarded with tutus and glitter and ribbons. Chic for girls, not so much for boys. So where were all the GQ inspired boys clothes? Where were all the JT Suit & Tie get-ups? There had to be some Robert Pattinson shades lying around somewhere. Nothing. I searched high and low and walked away feeling defeated. How could there be such a large market for girls clothing and not for boys? This is 2013 and if Ryan Gosling has taught me anything it’s that boys want to look stylish too.
Well fast forward a few months later when I started working in the Baby & Children’s department at this PR agency. Now, a full blown advocate of babies (thanks to my nephew!) doing public relations for babies and children has become a somewhat of a passion. Then something extremely exciting happened not just for our PR Firm, but for every mother with a son in the world; Konnect PR began working with a hip and stylish boys clothing brand called Kapital K. FINALLY there is a brand out there for boys that is fashion-forward, edgy, and dare I say it, KOOL.
So move over girls, it’s the boys turn to rule the fashion world for a bit. From this aunt sincerely, thank you Kapital K for bringing just the right amount of attitude and “kool” to every boys’ closet, as well as to our PR agency. You better believe my nephew will be rocking these duds in no time!
