The Austin staff of Konnect PR recently visited a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) event and while we had only planned to stay briefly, we spent the entire evening delving into what can best be described as publicist therapy.
To me, the activity that stood out the most was an interesting twist on the traditional New Year’s resolutions. In small groups, we replaced wordy resolutions with a one word personal theme for the year.
I loved this exercise because it forced self-reflection, one of the most important ingredients when goal setting. We all took a second to consider our habits -the good, bad, and even questionable – to uncover the word that would best encapsulates our intentions for 2015.
Initially, I chose the word ‘patience’ but after further reflection, I’ve decided that my theme for 2015 is FOCUS. I want to greet my year with intentional actions. With so many goals, passions and desires scrambling around my mind at once, I’m committing to intentionally focusing my energy into one passion/project at a time. I’ve even told my close friends and family in hopes of maintaining accountability.
So, what’s your theme for 2015?
