Public relations and marketing pros are always looking for new ways to promote their clients’ brands. Of course there are the basic social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, but there are many other apps that brands can use to creatively interact with their followers and get people talking!
Here are a few that I found:
WHAT IS IT: Created by the masterminds at Facebook, Riff is a new video collaboration app that allows users to create inventive videos within their Facebook friend network.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR BRAND: If your video gets enough traction, the result can be endless shares and one awesome creative project! People love being able to interact with a brand and Riff makes that interaction possible. For example, a doughnut chain can use Riff by posting a video asking fans to share how they celebrate National Doughnut Day. Followers and fans of the doughnut chain can then add their clip to the video creating a montage of what doughnut lovers do for the day that celebrates those beautifully fried treats.
WHAT: An app acquired by Twitter that was inspired by teleportation. Periscope allows users to live stream from anywhere in the world.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR BRAND: Public relations teams everywhere are jazzed about this app due to its ability to give followers and fans of a brand the opportunity to feel connected. Users are able to see in real time what it is that your brand is doing at that very moment. Sticking with the National Doughnut Day example from earlier, a doughnut company’s twitter followers could watch the busiest location’s kitchen prep for the best national holiday!
WHAT IS IT: An instant messaging app that just recently introduced Promoted Chats in November of 2014.
WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR BRAND: Many companies might think, “How can an instant messaging app add to our public relations and marketing campaigns?” Well the answer is quite simple: chatting with consumers with one-on-one messaging is the most intimate form of marketing that gives way to increased brand awareness. An added bonus to the Kik Promoted Chats feature is that brands can to add their own personalities their chats, making Kik an entertaining outlet for consumers to talk to brands by voicing concerns or just asking questions about a specific promotion (ie: free doughnut day)
Happy App Downloading!
