As a social media “professional”, I classify myself as pretty addicted to technology, and I know I am not alone in that! Not only am I on social media during work hours, but I tend to go right back on once I leave the office.
Because this has become such a norm in our culture, I didn’t notice the dependence that was forming between me and my phone. There was a disconnect with the world around me in the desperate desire to stay in touch with the latest and greatest news.
After looking at my addiction through the eyes and photos by Eric Pickersgill, I have come to the sad realization of things I am missing while looking down at my phone.
These photos did not make me want to cut out social media all together, and as a social media content creator I still take great joy in my job. Although, these photos did make me understand that there is a time and place for social media, and I truly don’t want to miss out on the memories around me just because I am trying to find the perfect Instagram filter.
