It’s been a long, eventful week with the election in full force. For many who stayed up late in anticipation of the presidential results on Tuesday night, this week seems to be dragging on. That said, here are a few simple tips to combat the long work week and stay energized until Fri-YAY!
- Work it out at your desk
Break the work cycle and alleviate stress with a few desk exercises sure to get you up and moving for a quick boost of energy. At Konnect Agency, we’ve implemented a voluntary work out program encouraging colleagues to take a minute every three hours to do a quick exercise. Squats, desk planks, lunges and wall sits are our top picks at one minute intervals!
- COFFEE and more coffee
Coffee is essential for many people at a PR agency. Studies show that sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. is the optimal time to get your coffee buzz. Pump that caffeine and power through the rest of your work week. A nice cup of Joe never hurt anyone!
- Get some Vitamin D – Go outside!
Recharge with a vitamin D boost from the sun for a speedy mood and energy upgrade. Step away from the screens, voicemails and office chatter and focus on the great outdoors on your break/lunch. With 10 to 15 minutes of sun daily, you’ll be able to conquer the long work week blues in no time!
- Crank up the music
Sometimes exhaustion comes from sustained concentration so add a burst of music to keep the rest of your work day upbeat. Experts say that listening to music while working can assist with productivity and even focus. TURN IT UP!
- When all else fails, power nap!
Luckily, Konnect offers nap pods in our L.A. office for quick sleep breaks during lunch. Studies show that just 20 minutes is all you need to reap the benefits of napping, like heightened alertness, enhanced performance and an overall better mood. WARNING: anything more than 20 minutes will force you into a deeper sleep which slows down the brain, makes you feel groggy and less attentive than before. So, keep it short and sweet!
Nevertheless: it’s almost the weekend, so cheers to that! Working in franchise PR can be rough (especially on a Thursday) but we just have to remember to KEEP PUSHING FORWARD.
