Hello from New York!
As we say here at WeWork Bryant Park (home to our NYC office), TGIM! (Thank God it’s Monday! 🙂 )
At Konnect, a growing part of our work is social media marketing, specifically influencer relations. It’s hard to deny that platforms like Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter are playing a larger and larger role in consumer’s purchasing decisions.
One of our fabulous food clients, Pure Growth Organic, is in the thick of one our largest social media campaigns ever, enlisting mommy bloggers nationwide to try their delicious and organic snacks, then share their thoughts with followers.
With this in mind I thought I’d share some of the Konnect team’s best tricks of the trade when it comes to securing authentically integrated sponsored content.
1-Tap your brand champions
Here’s an actionable item to implement next time you are looking for an influencer to partner with: reach out to individuals who already love your product! Whether they’re commenting on your Instagrams or just liking the Instagrams of influencers who are organically posting about your product, these should be your first target!
2-Don’t be scared of micro-influencers
As discussed by fabulous Isabel in her previous post here, influencers with “growing” following (aka small) are your new best friends. Sure, 1mm+ followers sounds amazing, but these accounts are often so overloaded with sponsored posts they (1) charge big bucks and (2) run out of ways to keep their sponsored content natural.
3- Let influencers do their thing
Finally, the beauty of influencers is that they create content that resonates with their followers. When brands try to take this role from them, disaster ensues. Scripted captions, staged posts and over-the-top asks are a quick way to disappointing engagement numbers.
Working at a Los Angeles social media agency definitely has its perks, one of them being working with fabulous influencers and clients like Pure Growth Organic. Hope these tips and tricks help you in your next campaign, too!
