Can you believe Spring is only a couple weeks away? It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating new years and now Q1 is basically over! As we all know Spring is a time for new beginnings, fresh flowers and Spring cleaning! And just so you know, Spring cleaning doesn’t just have to mean cleaning out your closet, it’s the perfect time to clean-up your social media! Whether you super active on the platforms or you barely go on once a month, its always a good idea to sweep through to make minor updates or changes to keep things fresh and interesting. As social media experts, here at Konnect Agency, updating social media profile information is something we recommend/execute for all our clients on an ongoing basis. Below are a few of our tips and tricks to cleaning up your favorite social apps.
Profile Images– When was the last time you updated your profile image? Are you still rockin’ that 2017 Halloween snap shot? If so it’s time to update! When choosing a new profile picture always consider the following:
- The quality of the photo: Since profile images are rather small, it’s important to use high-quality photos that will not distort when cropped in various sizes
- Consider using a headshot: Using a selfie or a headshot helps create a clear visually appealing image that represents you on that particular social media platform.
- Your social media bio should include your basic information in a tone of voice that is unique and creative to you! It’s a great way to let others know who you are and what your intentions are on the platform. Additionally, it is a great way to share what topics/themes interest you.
- If you are an individual of influence, make sure to include an email or website where followers/potential followers will be able to get in-touch with you.
Photos/Videos- A rule of thumb: Once something is on the internet you can never completely delete it. However, it’s always a good idea to do a sweep every so often to rid your feed of inappropriate or embarrassing photos that might not be appropriate for a potential employer to see. We at Konnect recommend using the “archive” feature on the Instagram platform which allows you to hide photos on your feed without completely deleting them.
We hope these tips and tricks help with your social media Spring cleaning!
