New Year, Better You
Working at a public relations agency, the phrase “New Year, New You” is something that you begin hearing and saying as early as October, all the way through mid-January. Capturing the frenzy of stories that come out at the beginning of the year to reflect the many resolutions to be healthier, this idiom is stamped into publicist lingo forever. And I hate it.
While I am not going to go on a crusade to change the phrase that so many of us use, I am going to argue that an improved way of framing this idea is “New Year, Better You.” I highly doubt that everyone is in need of a full-on makeover come January 1 (at least I hope not). Sometimes it’s the small changes that make a difference.
With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to share some of the Konnect clients who help us to make small changes in how we eat and live, to become better versions of ourselves. Note that so many (almost all) of Konnect’s clients can fit into this category and that the below is merely a sampling.
Without further ado…
Urban Remedy’s ready-to-eat meals, snacks and juices are the ideal way to seek healing through food. Each dish is made handmade and overnighted to your doorstep and contains nothing but plant-based goodness, and absolutely no GMOs, preservatives or sugar.
FBOMB makes delicious, all-natural macadamia nut butters that deliver a boost of healthy fats. The peanut-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, paleo-friendly, non-GMO bars come in flavors like Macadamia with Coconut and Macadamia with Sea Salt, among others. They make for the perfect midday office or post-workout snack.
Fishpeople is the leading brand of sustainable, traceable seafood and I am CRAZY for their Wild Alaskan Salmon Jerky. I can eat a whole bag in one sitting. Picture wild-caught salmon with 24g of protein and 900mg of Omega-3s in delicious flavors like Ancho Chili + Lime and Lemon Zest + Herb. Do yourself a favor and get some STAT.
ONE Brands offers protein bars that deliver 20g of protein and only ONE gram of sugar. They just debuted their new Dark Chocolate Sea Salt flavor which sounds like it should be a sin but can very much fit into plans for a year of eating better, with less sugar.
The only non-edible option on the list is Solluna’s new Feel Good skincare system complete with Eye Cream, Cleanser, Moisturizer, and ASC2P Vitamin C Serum. Because as a 30+ year old, I now appreciate high quality, non-toxic, effective skincare products.
Whatever your goal for 2019 is, it is this Los Angeles public relations professional’s dream that everyone remains kind to themselves, their bodies, and the people and world around them. Resolutions will be broken, diets will come and go, and you may very well end up eating Hot Cheetos at your desk when you’re too busy to get a healthy lunch (shout out to Hot Cheetos for being delicious). It happens. No one is perfect, but we can always be better.
