Get Out and About to Celebrate Our Planet
Monday, April 22, is Earth Day – the day we celebrate this great planet we are lucky enough to call home. As a lifestyle PR agency in Los Angeles, we will be loving all the fun Earth Day content brands are putting out. Even if you have to spend a majority of the day in your office, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate Mother Earth.
Connect your mind, body and soul: If you’re a LA local like much of our Konnect family, come connect with yourself and the Earth by embracing your inner goddess with Chosen Foods. The number one supplier of avocado oil is celebrating Earth Day and their new Goddess dressings with yoga classes and meditations with industry leader Koya Webb, and healthy plant-based meals incorporating the new dressings at The Rose Room in Venice Beach. Complimentary classes, keynote, and food starting at 10am, 12pm, and 5:30pm. RSVP at EventBrite.
Green-up your commute: As a Los Angeles Public Relations firm, we’re no strangers to commuting via car. It isn’t news that carbon emissions are harmful to the environment. Even small steps to put fewer cars on the roads like ridesharing helps create a better situation for the atmosphere. Walk to your local grocery store to pick-up fresh, local fruits and vegetables for dinner or get in a little extra workout by biking to your favorite local fitness class.
Cut back on plastic: According to a National Geographic study, 91 percent of plastic used isn’t recycled. Even with the strong emphasis on recycling today, 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic have been created over the past sixty years. Plastic takes more than 400 years to fully decompose and is harmful to a animals, especially birds, marine life and fish. It’s estimated that there will be 12 billion metric tons of plastic waste in landfills by 2050, so the time to take charge is now – fill up that reusable water bottle, make sure you use washable flatware and dishes, and recycle all plastic, paper and glass!
Start a garden: Love flowers? Looking to add more greenery into your life? Want to grow some of your own fruits, vegetables or herbs? Starting a garden is a great way to bring nature into your home. It doesn’t take tons of land to grow your own food either, plants like tomatoes, peppers, basil, salad greens and even avocados can all be grown in an apartment setting with the appropriate sunlight and planters.
Enjoy nature: No matter where you live, take time to breathe in the fresh air and (hopefully) enjoy some sunlight! Whether you live near an ocean, lake or the mountains. Carve some space out in your day to stop by the beach, bike a local trail or take a hike to take in some incredible views of our planet.
Taking time to appreciate our planet is important, as we only have one Earth and protecting its resources is increasingly important. Small steps go a long way and can even be fun!
