Oklahoma City’s complex history of land runs, oil booms, and rich Native American history weave a tapestry of cultures that have created a modern city like no other. This history is on full display at our many historical museums, parks and districts.
It’s arts scene is home to a thriving community of artists and musicians who have chosen OKC as their place to take root and create. You don’t have to go into our museums to see what we’re talking about either, take a walk through one of our walkable districts and you’ll be greeted with streetside music, outdoor festivals and a collection of street art recently named the country’s best by USA Today. While you’re exploring, stop in one of our many coffee shops, breweries or unique shops and you’ll find yourself chatting with locals a lot easier than you think. Oklahoma City is also home to a booming food scene from experiential restaurants like Nonesuch, named 2018’s America’s Best New Restaurant to taco trucks and tapas, you’ll find we’re home to much more than the comfort food you might think of, although we’ve got plenty of that too.
The city isn’t the only thing they’ve got to offer, take a quick drive to any of Oklahoma’s rivers or over 200 lakes with over 11,611 miles of shoreline for a playground perfect for sailing, wakeboarding, kayaking, floating or fishing. With a full range of seasons, our great outdoors truly have something for everyone, see fall colors on full display as you weave down the picturesque Talimena drive, try your hand at rowing at our US Olympic training facility, or take a hike for views that go on forever from Mt. Scott.
