When you work in social media, whatever is on your mind seems to find a way onto social media – even your New Year’s resolutions. Most people know that Pinterest is the tool used to create aspirational boards around different aspects of your life: a dream house, outfits that inspire you, recipes for entertaining, etc. But did you know there are many different ways to keep track of what you hope the new year brings?
Here are some of the most common hopes and goals that many of us have and here are the social media channels that will help you get there:
- Travel more (Instagram/Pinterest)
There’s just about no better place to see and find beautiful photos of vacation destinations than Instagram. The great thing is it also allows you to look for trending places, and through their hasthags find the hottest destinations to travel and eat. When you’ve found the perfect place, use Pinterest! There you can create boards of destinations that you plan to visit, with an interactive map so you can feel free to wander about without forgetting the “must-see” attractions.
- Get in shape (Youtube/Pinterest)
Youtube is the number one resource when it comes to video, and fitness videos are no exception. There you can effectively have your “own personal trainer” ready to go whenever you are. Find the most popular work out videos, yoga classes, healthy recipes and much more. You can even learn how to cook a new healthy dish or two!
- Being more organized (Twitter)
Twitter is a very helpful tool allowing you to be in the know, learn about trending topics, and watch live video (moments) at any time during the day. To save time with this invaluable tool you can schedule tweets, follow people with similar interests and log in to other social media tools using your Twitter account, avoiding having to remember complicated passwords (just make sure the password for your Twitter account is long and complex). One of my favorite options on Twitter is to create lists. They can be private or public, and can organize who you follow by interests, people, and places.
- Start your own business (Facebook/Linkedin)
Nowadays, there’s plenty of options for entrepreneurs to start their own business without needing an actual physical location. Online business have grown so fast in the last decade that it has become a very lucrative way to run an enterprise. If you have always wanted/planned to have your own store, Facebook pages gives you the option to add a section named “Shop,” where you can include the list of items with prices and options for payments. Through the Store application you can increase sales, exposure for your brand and get insights.
And of course, another ideal social media tool to help you achieve your professional goals in this hyper-connected landscape is Linkedin. You can create your own profile, add your skills, achievements, previous experience and more. It’s the perfect place to kickstart your networking online and create new relationships.
