When you spend most of your day in an office environment, it is important that you incorporate healthy habits that will give you more energy rather than leave you drained after work. We have all seen the negative effects sitting at desks all day can do to you and I wanted to share some healthy habits our Los Angeles Konnect uses to combat the often-sedentary lifestyle that affects so many who work in office environments.
• Standing Desks – Did you know that studies have shown that the average American sits over 12-hours a day whether it is at work, on your commute or at home enjoying your latest Netflix binge? That is a lot of time sedentary time. Here at Konnect a lot of us use standing desks where we can switch from sitting to standing throughout the day which helps with blood flow, regulate blood sugar levels and reduce shoulder and back pain.
• Stability Ball Chairs – Another thing that we use at the office as a substitute for the regular chair are stability ball chairs which consist of a basic chair frame with wheels on it and a ball as the chair. Using these help to strengthen your core, engage your legs and improve your posture. Don’t try to sit on it all day from the start though or you can injure yourself, it is best to slowly build up your strength.
• Treadmill Desks – Being in a food and beverage PR agency there are always treats around to give you that boost when your energy is low, and we have all over indulged at times due to things happening in our lives which is why I am grateful that we have a treadmill desk in the office! Sometimes when your mind is stuck the best way to get it going again is movement and the treadmill desk is the perfect tool to use!
I hope you enjoyed some of the anti-chair options that we use to keep us going here at our PR firm!
