Publicists are always writing. Whether it be emails, press releases or pitches, working in Public Relations requires you to be creative and savvy with your writing skills. Sometimes you just need to take a break from your computer. Take a walk around the office. Obsess over cats with your co-worker. Eat that left over pizza from lunch yesterday. Doing any of these things can be enough to kick start your brain again after staring at the same sentence for 45 minutes.
Don’t be afraid to ask your coworkers for a five minute brainstorm. Chances are, they might be having difficulties too. Bounce ideas off each other and ask them to look at your work to catch any mistakes. Sometimes just chatting with someone else about nothing will be enough for you to come up with ideas.
Pop in those headphones and listen to your favorite Jack Johnson playlist. Studies show that listening to ambient sounds or soft music helps you focus and can get those juices in motion. Flip through some focus-themed playlists on your streaming service of choice or listen to your favorite Mozart CD (if you have one, idk).
