If you work at Konnect PR, you will see me going through the office every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning at 9 am, screaming “Newsflash”. Upon that, I and the other Konnect members meet in the conference room to discuss current news which we think might be in some way related to our clients or our lives.
Why do we do that?
Public relations are all about getting your client/s into the media. Let’s say that one of your clients is a toy brand. If you find out that a certain outlet just did a round – up of the best spring toys, there is a possibility that they will want to do a round – up of summer toys as well. Here you have an opening for a pitch!
Team work makes the dream work! Many times the news that you will find won’t be even related to your own client, but someone else’s. That is not a problem at all because at the end of the day, you are all a team and you are helping each other.
The news you might not even be related to any of your clients – but to your day to day live. For instance the news that the president is in the city and that certain streets are closed make us aware that there will be a traffic that day. Today one of these was that The Girl on The Train movie trailer is now online – this was a newsflash for us because most of our office read the book.
What interesting have you read/heard/seen today?
