Summer 2017 is right around the corner. What does this mean? It means days of cool cocktails, the sun hitting your skin and giving you the perfect glow and most of all summer Fridays when you can let go of the week and start the weekend a little early!
Before imagining that glorious afternoon on a Friday this summer, we must make sure that we can prioritize our life and actually be able to leave the office feeling accomplished. The Public Relations and Marketing world is known to be one of the fastest pace industries and we all work every day to get as much as we can get done, but somehow our list flows over to the next week with added tasks and we find ourselves working later than we expected. Not this summer!
Here are four ways you can optimize your time:
- Pre-plan and make goals
Although the Public Relations industry is pretty unexpected, try to pre-plan your week to have an idea of what it will look like and organize your thoughts around it. Then come up with at least three goals. Believe me, accomplishing those three goals, whether small or large, will feel magical when Friday comes around!
- Research beforehand
You would be amazed by how long researching can take to make sure you are reaching out to the right person when pitching, so it is helpful when you are prepared and ready to go.
- Come into your office and handle the most important tasks first
Every morning we are swarmed with emails to look through, especially Mondays. Handle your most important tasks first so that everything else on your list seems a lot closer to being accomplished and the workload is a lot lighter.
- Do a hump day check at the end of the day
Take a second to look at your progress from Monday to Wednesday and schedule time increments for when you will be focusing on what is next and what needs to be done before heading out on Friday. This way your thoughts and time are organized appropriately.
If you incorporate these strategies, you won’t be missing summer Fridays this year and you will be saying “hello” to that sun-kissed summer glow.
