Last night before bed, I picked up the Thanksgiving issue of Bon Appétit and started flipping though its pages. Like any good publicist, I started with the letter from the editor. And while reading, I realized that this may be one of the last letters from Barbara Fairchild I read – and that made me sad.
In September of this year, Condé Nast announced that Bon Appétit will be moving its office from LA (where it currently is) to New York (where most of their publications are based) – read the post about this here. On top of that, when moving (sometime at the end of this year) the magazine’s editor in chief – Barbara Fairchild- will not be joining the publication.
At that time, I was like “wow- I wonder what’s going on there” but while reading her letter last night I felt an air of nostalgia. I’ve been reading the magazine for years (probably for as long as she’s been the eic) and I’ve been subscribing to it for almost as long. Barbara truly is a great American foodie – that loves her holidays and her family- as well as her magazine.
I’m always open to new – and I’m curious to see who the new eic will be and I’m probably going to excitedly pick up a copy of the publication and read the letter from the editor then- but until then I can’t help being a little sad for Barbara’s tone and fun food notes.
